Nancy Carlston is a co-founder of Mt. Tam Community Land Trust and a founding member of MVFREE (Mill Valley Force for Racial Equity and Empowerment.)  She served on Marin County’s Telehealth Equity Task Force, the Community Service Advisory and Community Grant Committee of the Outdoor Art Club, the Coordinating Committee of the Mill Valley Arts Coalition, Mill Valley Middle School’s Site Committee, and as a tutor for Bridge the Gap. She has been a member of the pastor Nominating Committee and an Elder for Christian Education at San Geronimo Community Presbyterian Church and has served as a Deacon on the worship and Westminster Events committees at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

While living in Boulder, Colorado, Nancy was on Amnesty International (USA) Executive Director’s Leadership Council, and served on the boards of the Center of the American West at UC Boulder, Mother-House,, Boulder Valley YMCA and E-Town.  She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and Flatirons Elementary School.

Her professional work was as an Acquisitions Editor of academic books in mathematics and psychology. She earned a BA from Cornell in English and an MA from Stanford in History.
