Michael Orlandi

Advisory Council

Michael has been managing single-family rental properties in Mill Valley for the past ten years. As a second-generation Mill Valley resident, he feels a deep commitment to maintaining vibrant, diverse local community, along with affordability. His family has offered single-family homes for rent since the early 1950’s. Growing up, at least one day of every weekend was dedicated to rental repair and maintenance – mowing lawns, painting, replacing light switches, and snaking drains. This long experience working on real-world home challenges has honed his ability to anticipate and mitigate potential problems. He has a deep understanding of current issues, such as changes in fire insurance and property tax laws, that make it increasingly challenging to own rental properties.

Michael earned his BA in Graphic Design from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now known as California College of the Arts). He went on to become an entrepreneur, first founding his own graphic design business, which led to contracting jobs with multiple SF Bay Area Design firms, and eventually contracting with George Lucas’ Lucas Licensing. Other entrepreneurial projects have included a contract to launch a new restaurant concept on Catalina Island, and finally the founding of an organic, artisanal gelato shop in downtown Mill Valley, where he and his wife-to-be focused on environmental sustainability and creating space to showcase local fine artists.

Michael supports the SF-Marin Food Bank, was a multi-year volunteer for Boarding for Breast Cancer, and founded the Mill Valley Bike Swap, which he managed for about six years before handing it off to the Marin County Bicycle Coalition. He is looking forward to supporting the mission of the Mt. Tam Community Land Trust with his diverse skillset.
